Community Funds

Undesignated funds used for broad community granting, with flexibility to

meet ever-changing community needs. We encourage donors to contribute to this

fund unless they have strong connections to a specific area of concern

This Fund holds the assets from CKF's predecessor, the Community Health Fund

Environment Fund

This Fund supports projects that have an impact on our environment

Quality of Life for Seniors

 

This fund was created by a bequest made by Dorothy McEachran.

Agency Funds

These local charities have established their own endowment

funds within the Community Foundation. Earnings from these funds

flow back to the designated charities to use as they see fit.

Creston Valley Hospital Fund

The annual income from this Fund is used to purchase equipment for our community Hospital

Eva & Neil Barber

Memorial Fund

The Barbers created this Fund to provide support to two of their favourite causes - The Adam Robertson meal program and the Creston Public Library's early learning program

Youth Advisory Fund

 

These funds were raised on behalf of students at PCCS. At this time the income is used to provide an annual bursary for a graduate pursuing post secondary education

Memorial Fund

This legacy Fund was established bu Nicole's family to support the Hospital's capital purchases

Sommerfeld Memorial Fund

 

This fund was created by the family of Sonja Sommerfeld after she died in a tragic accident. The family has stipulated that the earnings each year are to be split between the Public Health Nurses and the Ministerial Association to provide optometric care for persons who may not be able to otherwise afford it.

Donor Advised Funds

Donors (or an appointed Advisor) have ongoing

involvement in how the money in these funds is used.

Kirkintilloch Fund

This fund has been created by a donor who wishes to remain anonymous. They have stipulated that the earnings each year are to be spent on health related capital purchases within the Valley, and often partner with other charities or organizations to leverage smaller amounts into larger purchases.

F.H and B.M. Freeman Agricultural Innovation Fund

 

Carol Freeman-Ryll established this Fund in honour of her parents who were forward thinking farmers in Great Britain. The goal of the Fund is to help farmers adopt innovative changes..

Romeo Juliet Fund

 

This fund was created by a donor who wishes to remain anonymous but who wants to be able to provide financial assistance to an array of charities in the Valley who are working to improve the quality of life of citizens in general.

The Messinger Family Fund

 

Casey and Charlotte Messinger have established this fund to help finance beautification projects within the Creston Vallly

Scholarships

The Foundation is able to manage and administer scholarship

funds for private parties in the Valley. Tax receipts are issued for donations and in turn

the scholarships must be paid directly to the educational institutions involved.

Brandon Salviulo Memorial

Scholarship Fund

Brandon was a resident of Riondel when his life was cut short by a tragic accident. It had been a goal of his to become a professional Fire Fighter, so in his honour the Salviulo family started this Scholarship Fund. The earnings are used to provide scholarships to a resident of the Kootenays who attends the Fire Fighting program at the College of the Rockies.

Scholarship

 

This fund, named for one of the Valley's most prolific musicians and music teachers, is operated by the Creston Valley Music Teacher's Assocation. It provides financial assistance to students who have studied with a local Music Teacher and are pursuing music in a post secondary institution.
