Creston – Kootenay Foundation Guidelines for Grant Seekers

The Creston – Kootenay Foundation invites applications for projects in the fields of arts and culture; environment; social welfare and health; education; the aged; youth; and heritage.

The Creston – Kootenay Foundation (CKF) is a  Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA) registered “Public Foundation.” CCRA gives CKF authority to receive donations in money, land, equities, or bonds, and to issue income tax receipts for donations. CCRA under section 149.1(1) specifies Creston – Kootenay Foundation must make grants only to “Qualified Donees.” Qualified Donees are Registered Charities with CCRA with a “Business Number.” They may apply directly to CKF for a grant. CCRA specifies that groups wishing to apply but not registered with CCRA and not having a CCRA issued Business Number must have a “Registered Charity” sponsor submit the application on their behalf.
